The Good, Bad and Ugly Sides of Social Media
With so many people engaging in social media, I’ve observed a strong thirst to gain knowledge and understand how social media can be used individually. Most desire skills and knowledge to better use a social site, but many desire insights into the benefits of using social media for a business or things to avoid saying and doing online. Security and privacy are also issues that rise to the surface whenever I speak to groups. With this in mind, we’ve started Social Scuttlebutt as a way to highlight not only the good parts of social media, but also the bad and the ugly too. Good is self explanatory; it’s the gain you make from using social media. Bad represents areas of misconception or confusion and ugly is how social media is used to hurt or take advantage of others.
It is our desire to showcase information and perspectives that can help you make up your own mind, especially where there is an area of confusion. After all, social media is not a one size fits all activity. It has so many uses both personally and for business, so you get to decide how it fits into your own life, if at all.
